Gigs
This is where you create and manage all your performances. A 'gig' is an event where you can enable interactive features for your audience.
Creating & Configuring Gigs
Click "Create Gig" to go to the gig management page. This page contains all the settings for a single gig, allowing you to tailor the audience experience for each event.
Gig Details
This section covers the basic information about your gig.
- Name & Date: Essential information for identifying your gig. The date is used to sort gigs into "Upcoming" and "Past".
- Default Audience Tab: If you enable both Song Requests and Karaoke, you can choose which tab the audience sees first when they load the page.
- Description: A space to add a welcome message, event details, or any other information for your audience. This field supports basic HTML for formatting (e.g.,
<b>bold</b>,<i>italic</i>,<br>for line breaks). - 'Learn More' Button: A powerful feature to provide detailed information in a pop-up modal.
- Button Label: Customize the text that appears on the button (e.g., "Venue Info", "About the Show").
- Modal Content: Use the simple HTML builder to add formatted text, headers, and lists to the modal.
- Show modal automatically: If checked, the 'Learn More' modal will open automatically for every user when they first visit the page.
Assigning Substitutes
If your band has any substitutes, a "Subs Playing This Gig" field appears on the gig page. Select one or more subs who are filling in for this performance — this is what makes the gig appear on their dashboard and Availability calendar. Subs who aren't assigned won't see the gig at all.
Crew work the same way: if your band has any crew, pick who's working the gig in the "Crew Working This Gig" field.
Interactive Features
This is where you enable and configure the interactive modules for your audience. Both features draw their songs from a songbook, which in turn pulls song details from your shared repertoire.
Song Requests
- Enable Song Requests: The master switch for the entire feature.
- Request Songbook: You must select which of your songbooks the audience can request songs from.
- Allow users to see requested songs list: If checked, the audience can see a list of songs that have already been requested and how many times each has been requested. If unchecked, they can only submit requests.
- Require payment to request a song: (Requires Stripe to be configured in Settings). If checked, users must pay the specified amount to submit a request. You can set a default price here, but you can also set per-song prices from the songbook editor.
Karaoke Queue
- Enable Karaoke Queue: The master switch for the feature.
- Karaoke Songbook: Select the songbook for karaoke signups. The songbook's Groups will be displayed as collapsible headers to the audience, making it easy to browse large collections.
- Queue Visibility for Users: Control what the audience sees in the queue:
- Hidden: Users only see their own sign-ups. This is useful for privacy or keeping the order a surprise.
- Anonymized: Users see the full list of songs and positions, but names of other singers are masked (displayed as "Singer"). Their own name is always visible to them.
- Public: Everyone can see all names and song choices in the queue.
- Limit song repetitions: When checked, you can set a limit on how many times a single song can be performed during the gig (combining queued and already-sung instances).
- Limit users to one song in queue at a time: Prevents a single user from signing up for multiple songs simultaneously. They can, however, "swap" their current song for a new one.
- Close sign-ups at: Pick a time for karaoke sign-ups to close on their own, just as if you pressed Close Signups on the gig page. Leave it empty to close them yourself. The date starts on the gig's date and moves with it if you reschedule; pick the next day for a time after midnight. Pressing Open Signups after the closing time has passed clears it, so sign-ups stay open until you close them again.
- Show a countdown: With a closing time set, your audience can see "Sign-ups close in 12:34" on the Karaoke tab, counting down every second. It appears when the number of minutes you choose are left (30 by default), shows in your admin view too, and gives way to the closed notice at zero.
- Require payment to sign up: (Requires Stripe). Set a price for signing up. You can set different prices for individuals and groups.
- Allow tipping to skip the line: (Requires Stripe). Allows users to add a tip to their signup to move up in the queue. Tipped singers are prioritized at the top, sorted by the highest tip amount. You can set a minimum tip required to use this feature.
- Enable performance feedback: When a singer finishes their song, the audience is prompted to rate the performance (1–5 stars) and leave an optional comment. This feeds the Audience Feedback section of Analytics.
Other Features
- Enable Song Suggestions: This allows users to suggest songs that are not in your songbook. These suggestions are collected on the Suggestions page for your review.
- Enable Tip Jar: (Requires Stripe). Displays a prominent "Tip the Band" button on the audience page, allowing for direct tips.
Gig Templates
If you play the same kind of gig again and again, save its setup as a template and start the next one from it. You can keep as many as you like, say one for Karaoke nights and one for Fundraisers, each with its own starting values. Only band owners and admins can see and use templates.
Saving a template
Set up a gig the way you want new ones of that kind to start, then click "Save as template…" next to the Save button (at the bottom of the gig panel, or at the top of the full gig page) and give it a name. It works on a new gig before you create it and on a gig you are editing. A template keeps the venue and its contacts, the times and length, the fee, deposit, cuts and notes, the request, karaoke and engagement settings with their songbooks, the setlist, your booking properties, and the subs and crew. It leaves out what belongs to one gig: the name, the date, the booking status, and files uploaded to a booking property.
Saving with a name you already use asks before replacing that template.
Starting a gig from a template
Once you have a template, the "Create Gig" button on the Gigs page gets an arrow beside it. Click the arrow and pick "Start from …": the new gig opens with that template's values filled in, and you add the name and date. Change anything you need; the gig is not linked to the template, so editing one never changes the other. Clicking "Create Gig" itself still starts a blank gig. A gig created from a booked deal starts from the deal's details, and you can pick a template for the rest: the deal's values always win (see Booking).
Managing templates
Click "Manage Templates" next to Create Gig on the Gigs page (it is there even before you save your first template) to see each template with a short summary of what it sets, such as its venue, fee, and audience features. Edit opens the template in the gig form, without the name, date and booking status; change what you need and click "Save template", which updates the template and never creates a gig. You can also rename or delete a template there, or replace one by saving a gig as a template under the same name. Gigs already started from a template never change.
Activating a Gig
To make a gig live for your audience, click the "Set Active" button on its card. Only one gig can be active at a time, so setting a gig active replaces the current one. The active gig is what appears at your main band URL (e.g., bandleader.app/your-band-id).
You don't have to keep a gig active. To take the active gig down without picking another, click "Clear Active" next to its "Active" badge (in the list view, click its highlighted play icon) and confirm. Deleting the active gig has the same effect. With no active gig, anyone at your band URL sees a "No Live Gig" message, and the page switches to the gig on its own as soon as you set one active. Each gig's own Share link keeps working either way.
Sharing a Gig
Each gig also has its own unique, permanent URL. You can copy this from the "Share" option in the gig card's menu. This is useful for sharing a link to a future gig without changing your currently active one.
Excluding a Gig from Analytics
From a gig card's menu, you can toggle "Exclude from analytics". This is useful for test runs, private parties, or any gig whose numbers you don't want skewing your Analytics totals (the sample gig that ships with new bands is excluded by default). Excluded gigs are still visible everywhere else and can be included again at any time.
